Regular trains (2 an hour) leave Manchester Airport for Liverpool Lime St Station. There are direct trains with a journey time of about 1 hour, or trains with one change with a journey time of 1 1/2 hours. Check train time tables on the National Rail website.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) also provides a variety of international flights.

There is regular bus service from Liverpool Airport into Liverpool city centre. The Arriva Service 80A runs to the Liverpool One Bus Station, as does the Arriva Service 86A, and the Arriva Airlink 500 also runs to Liverpool One and to Lime St Station.

Car Travel

From the M62, at the end of the motorway, continue straight ahead onto Edge Lane (A5080, then A5047) and look for signs for Liverpool City Centre and the Docks. The Crowne Plaza Hotel (City Centre) is located adjacent to the Mersey River.

If you're coming from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL), follow the A561 into Liverpool, then at Parliament St exit onto the A562. Continue to Chaloner St onto the A5036, following this until you reach Strand St (or "The Strand"). Take a sharp right onto Strand St. The Crowne Plaza Hotel (City Centre) is located down The Strand a little ways on your left.

For sat-nav users, the post code for the Crowne Plaza Hotel is L3 1QW (St Nicholas Place, Princes Dock).

Coach Travel

National Express provides coach service between Liverpool and many destinations in the United Kingdom. The National Express terminal in Liverpool is loctaed on Norton St, approximately 15-20 minutes by foot from the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Rail Travel

Liverpool Lime St Station is well-served by the British Rail network with connections to London and all other major British cities. Check the National Rail website for ticket information and booking.

Here are some travel times between Liverpool and other selected destinations:

  • Birmingham 1.5-2 hours
  • Cardiff 4 hours
  • Edinburgh 3.5-4.5 hours (depending upon changes)
  • Glasgow 3.5-4 hours
  • Leeds 2 hours
  • London (Euston) 2.5 hours
  • Manchester 1 hour
  • Southampton 4.5 hours

By foot, it is a 10-15 minute journey between Lime St Station and the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Taxi service is available from the station at the Skelhorne St exit.

The Eurostar rail service operates between London (St Pancras), Paris, and Brussels, with further (non-Eurostar) connections to many major European cities.

Sea Travel

Liverpool is linked to Dublin via ferry service and Birkenhead (across the Mersey River from Liverpool) is linked to Belfast.

Check the timetables for further information and booking. If you're traveling between Belfast and Liverpool with your car, here is one ferry service that can accommodate you (check online for others).
